MedModus was founded in May 2000.
From both perspectives of the Physician Preference Item transaction - the device manufacturer’s and the hospital’s - we witnessed, firsthand, the difficulty that hospitals and physicians had in selecting, sourcing, negotiating and managing Physician Preference Items.
The Problem
At the core of this difficulty was a lack of access to the real-time data and information necessary to make quality selection decisions. Combined with a lack of time and expertise in dealing with these medical devices, hospitals and healthcare organizations unknowingly lost money in their supplier negotiations. Given the unique nature of Physician Preference Items and the dynamics of a marketplace that is bombarded with new product introductions, hospitals are not on a level playing field with the suppliers and their representatives.
The Solution
Helping hospitals through improved communication, provision of information and physician empowerment became the foundation of the company.
